Beat Profile: Heist
This beat has an old school crime drama feel. I imagine the lyrics as an underworld storyline about a dangerous caper…complete with interesting underworld characters, climactic action, and a grimy aftermath.
About 12trillion
12trillion is a beatmaker from the Carolinas. His beats have an abstract style and informal electronic touch. If you like listening to the beats, then follow along on Twitter, Tumblr, YouTube, Facebook. For your convenience, here’s a list of stock personalities you can choose from while while listening to the beats. Which one do you prefer to visualize? Roll with it…
A diehard technology hipster, 12trillion lives in a very tiny apartment in a great neighborhood and spends his time making beats, working at an organic bakery, Ruby on Rails programming, and checking into public places with geo-social-mobile-coupon-metadata-sharing-network apps.

12trillion might be a better lyricist than he lets on, even though he hates being labeled as a rapper. Although originally from Boston, 12trillion has lived in Chicago long enough now to be considered a hometown guy. After he was selected to attend a special art school at the age of 16, he ended up quitting and starting a business selling records on Ebay. He has been filling up notebooks ever since. Known appropriately as ‘phenom’ at 2 coffee shops in his neighborhood that are infamous for intellectual poetry throwdowns.

Seattle is the perfect dreary place to match 12trillion’s noctural lifestyle. His big brother Martise (bassist in Bone Chunklets, a hometown metal favorite) has been giving him work for the last 2 years on the road, but was shocked to hear some of the beats that baby brother had been concocting on the laptop in the back of the bus. He started making his own path, albeit in a dramatically different genre than the Chunklets. He’s still living the life of a roadie and couchsurfing while working on his own digital music projects.

As enthusiastic for soccer, kiteboarding, and sunshine as he is for blasting out whiplashed bangers, 12trillion is admittedly just a cheerful guy who loves San Diego. Hiking and ultimate frisbee don’t compare to flossing out anthems at local weekend music festivals, but activities and sports are still this sun-lovers favorite past times. Don’t be mistaken, he likes to get in the lab and cook up some dark-ass shit, but he’s still as happy as a clam on the outside.

Whether he’s in a blazer at his “real” job or shirtless with parachute b-boy pants at the dance clubs of Houston, 12trillion thrives in a dichotomous environment. From graffiti artist to CEO? Believe it – he owns a piece of a medium-sized biotech research consulting firm. Before that – he was an infamous graffiti tagger. Caught in a seemingly bi-polar life, he’s a hip-hop businessman with as much flare for corporate buzzwords as he does for ridiculous beats.
